I’m a celebrity returns with another group of fame starved victims
Even if you’re not a fan of the whole “reality” thing, ITV’s “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here” has to be an exception to the rule. Having returned to our screens last night with the usual scary and fear conquering introductions, it’s already apparent that we are in for the usual group of cry babies, heroes and just downright irritating celebrity wannabes. It’s must see viewing!
As always, the show is hosted by the ever-present duo of Ant & Dec who add their unique wit and wisdom to proceedings, happily inflicting the now infamous bush tucker trials on the least popular contestants.
This year has the usual array of age, beauty, foreign and vain contenders in the shape of BBC News correspondent Michael Buerk, ex-Footballer Jimmy Bullard, red Dwarf and Coronation Street star Craig Charles, TOWIE’s Gemma Collins, Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty, model and umm… singer Nadia Forde, ‘Allo ‘Allo actress Vicki Michelle, rapper Tinchy Stryder, TV presenter Melanie Sykes and Playmate from the USA, Kendra Wilkinson.
With only a day gone, it’s already clear to see who the stronger few will be, with Michael Buerk, Melanie Sykes and Carl Fogarty all seemingly taking it in their stride whilst the tears, tantrums and drama has already been set to full volume by the larger than life Gemma Collins; who’s already refused a helicopter ride and complained about the lack of food in the camp. One wonder’s if these people actually watch or research the shows they’re about to enter!
The camp is still looking a little thread bare and no doubt, a couple of additional surprise faces will be making their way into camp before long. So if you want to catch up with the goings on in camp Down Under, then tune into ITV tonight at 9pm to get your dose of celebrity stupidity!
Need a dose of something more sobering?
The economy and austerity has never been so prevalent in news and culture in recent years. It’s no wonder if you watch tonight’s documentary “How the Rich get Richer” on Channel 4 at 8pm – it’s not pretty viewing.
Britain is apparently out of recession but a brief look around the place would make you think the opposite! With the majority of the middle and working classes all agreeing that the quality of life in the UK is worsening, this documentary is an eye-opening account of exactly why.
Hosted by Spectator Editor Fraser Nelson, who argues that the richest in society are benefiting more than any other; he explains how the wealth gap between the rich and poor is widening, to devastating effect.
If you have a stomach for true reality TV, then this is a show not to be missed!
